Smithsonian Folklife Festival Branding

The Smithsonian hosted an exhibit in the Summer of 2016 for the country of Panama that was called "Panama A Gateway to Culture". The goal was to brand the country and create a poster for the exhibit. After conducting lengthy research about the country and the Kuna tribe, I found that Panama is mostly a matriarchal country. The thought was to keep the imagery feminine by depicting an illustration from a vibrant Mola design that Panamanian females wear. Branding Panama as a country became easy by finding a typeface that played off of the designs found frequently in the Mola's.
